- A Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of experience, she has supported military service members and their families across diverse settings since becoming an MFLC in 2012. Her background spans clinical practice, supervision, and behavioral health training, and she brings an evidence-based, systems-informed approach to supporting counselor effectiveness and improving outcomes for military communities.

- Susan oversees support across numerous installations east of the Mississippi. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she holds degrees from George Mason University and Virginia Commonwealth University and has supported service members and their families globally since 2014. With experience spanning youth programs, family engagement, and unit support, Susan now focuses on training and mentoring MFLC staff to ensure delivery of high-quality, solution-focused non-medical counseling services.

Tonya Nascimento, PhD, LMHC, CMPC, Regional Supervisors, Military & Family Life Counseling (MFLC) Program, Magellan Federal
Supporting military-connected youth and counseling staff. She holds a master’s degree from the University of West Florida and a PhD in sport and performance psychology from Florida State University. A licensed mental health counselor and certified mental performance consultant, Tonya previously served as the first mental performance specialist embedded with Air Force Special Operations. Her work focuses on resilience, performance, and the application of psychological principles to support the unique needs of military populations.
