Connecting the Pieces: Evidenced-Based Counseling Approaches for the Military Community
Register now for the PREMIER Magellan Federal Counseling Symposium! We are pleased to offer our first Counseling Symposium highlighting best practices and interventions specific to the counseling support of military communities. From Oct. 20th – 24th, 2025, free live webinars will be facilitated by licensed mental health professionals to share evidence-based best practices on a variety of counseling topics. Participants have the opportunity to receive continuing education credits during this week-long showcase of Magellan Federal’s expertise in providing non-medical counseling for the military community. Grief is prevalent in the military community due to the frequent exposure to loss—whether through combat, accidents, or the emotional toll of separation from loved ones. Additionally, the high-stress environment and culture of resilience can make it difficult for service members to openly process and express their grief. This webinar explores how nonmedical counseling can support service members and their families during the unique grief experiences which are common in the military community.

Crisis intervention can be especially helpful for practitioners supporting the military because it equips them to respond swiftly and effectively to acute emotional distress, such as trauma, grief, or suicidal ideation. It also provides structured techniques to stabilize individuals, promote safety, and guide them toward longer-term support and recovery. In this 75-minute live webinar, participants will learn about common crisis intervention frameworks and explore examples of these concepts applied to nonmedical counseling settings which support service members.
